Welcome to Healthy by Choices! This site is for everyone who has the goal of improving their health, from drinking more water to losing 100 pounds or preventing a second heart attack. Here, we will talk about making the choice when ever it comes up, instead of just living 80 years of angelic, good decisions. Here, the goal is to motivate, educate and celebrate the good decisions, and work off the bad ones. We'll cover the basics, like what kind of exercise is the "right" kind of exercise, and delve into the specifics and the complicated. My name is Kelley and I am a professional health educator and freelance writer (wife, mamma and animal lover). I know that being healthy doesn’t happen by accident. It is a choice to be made every day. Not just once a day, either. There are limitless opportunities to choose to be healthy. We don’t always hit it on the head, but we do our best, and that is what this blog is about.
I have been a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) since 2002. I have national certifications in prenatal and post partum fitness, intrinsic coaching, yoga, Pilates and I've even spent some time as a personal trainer. I also volunteered with AmeriCorps * NCCC for two years, on a teeny, tiny food budget of $4.30 per day, so I also understand the importance of being healthy on a good tight budget.
